"Before" pictures...my wedding - DFW Wedding Photography

Well, as most of you know, we are from Indiana. Bridal Portraits are UNHEARD of up north! I even asked my photographer if I could do a session just with my dress and he looked at me like I was CRAZY!

So, I just had "bridal" portraits taken about two years ago! lol

I really recommend having as many sessions as possible with your photographer before the day of the wedding. It is nice to really know who that person is holding the big black camera in front of you all day!

Will and I had an engagement session done and enjoyed that, but I really wished I would have had bridals taken....but, its ok! I had them done with the "real Andrea" I am now...not the young bride who wasn't sure what she needed to do!

I use the engagement session as a time to really get to know the couple...the bridal portrait session as a time to get to know the bride more (and she normally brings vital important people with her...mom/sister/etc..to this session so I have more familiar faces on the wedding day.)....AND....most of my brides are doing boudoir parties before the wedding with their wedding party. These are new and trendy and a LOT of fun. That means I get to know even MORE people before the wedding.

My goal is for your wedding day to see me as a friend and not a stranger holding a camera. :)

Enjoy,

My wedding....time of day...-DFW Wedding Photography

Ok....time to talk about the time of day. Our wedding was at 11:30am. At the time, in my head, I wanted to be up and have fresh make-up, etc....and just do it. I didn't want to sit around all day to wait to have the hair and make-up done, etc....

Looking back (now, especially as a wedding photographer) I would have my wedding later in the day. The reception would have been a lot more fun! When it is noon and the room is bright and sunny no one wants to dance and really have a good time! It also rushed quite a few people who were not early birds, or who weren't from the area.....There was not much time before the wedding to get all the pictures done!

The one really fun thing though, with an early wedding, is that we opened all of our gifts that evening! :) So, that was really fun to have an exciting wedding day, open a zillion gifts, and then get whisked off to the honeymoon!

Enjoy,

What would "I" do differently if I got married tomorrow? - DFW Wedding Photography

So many people ask me...."Would you change anything about your wedding, looking back?"

Let me preface this with "I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT MY WEDDING"....but, with being in the industry now there are a lot of things I would do differently. Most of them are simply b/c I know who I am and I deal with weddings quite a bit....When I planned my wedding I was a senior in college at Purdue and had other important things to deal with....oh, and I was the first of all of my friends to get married.

Over the next few weeks I will talk about:
1. Venue choice
2. Time of wedding
3. Engagement/Bridal portrait sessions
4. Style
5. And...probably a few other things!

And, most of these are coming from "Photographer Andrea's" point of view! :)

I will answer these questions over a period of time....So, let's start with the venue.

Well, we had the traditional church wedding and reception at a country club. I like to look back and see the pictures of a church wedding, BUT...after shooting a ton of weddings I would change that to an outdoor wedding! I think when I was planning my wedding I knew I was "supposed" to get married in a church...that is what you do...and, with being the first of all of my friends the thought of an outdoor wedding never even crossed my mind.

The picture opportunities are SO much better outside! And, with most outdoor weddings the wedding and the reception are in the same place so the guests don't have to leave the church and drive to the next spot. It is just more convenient. There is the risk of rain though, as a photographer I have seen quite a few wedding venue's ruined by rain...so, a backup plan is a must!

Right now, at this point in my life, I would pick a nice country setting....maybe a white fence with a couple horses behind it and Will and I standing in front of that (very pretty in my head!). And, when the ceremony is done people just move to another area and let the reception begin.

Enjoy,

The Bryant Family - DFW Family Photographer

By: Nancy

The Bryant family is always great to work with! Their shoot was scheduled, for what turned out to be, a really cold and dreary day. But, the best part was that we were the only people at the location! We had acre after acre available for just us! What a nice surprise!

Also, feel free to check out their bakery! YUM!!! Cross Your Heart Cupcakes

Enjoy!
